PSEO Process for Shared CTE-High School Courses

  1. Schools advertise the course to students and determine who will enroll.
  2. Identified students complete the online Minnesota West application.* Please note: If students have applied in previous semesters, but have not completed their Personal Empowerment through Student Awareness training through D2L, their registrations will be delayed.
  3. Schools send a roster of students names and grade levels for each course, along with student high school transcripts and Accuplacer or ACT test scores to Theresa.Ireland@mnwest.edu.
  4. Minnesota West registers the students in the shared CTE course.
  5. Minnesota West sends a class roster and final billing to the schools two weeks after the course starts.

Attendance Procedure for MRV CTEC Classes

Attendance procedure for MRV CTEC courses

The following personnel at the collaborating MRV CTEC schools need to have attendance communicated in the mornings.

Lakeview

MACCRAY

RCW

YME

All MRV CTEC instructors should create an email group with these 8 names and email addresses.  Each morning, take roll as to who is attending classes and email the group as early as possible.  Schools will investigate why the absent students are not in class that day.

Weather and class cancellations

The MRV CTEC covers a large geographic area encompassing the five collaborating districts. The
weather on one end of the collaborative area may differ from the other school districts. For this reason,
we will follow the decisions made on school cancellations based on the district that is hosting the class.
Most of the time, this will mean Yellow Medicine East. We will also follow the Minnesota West weather
cancellation policy. If Minnesota West cancels classes, MRV CTEC classes held at the college will also
cancel.
If YME is closed or starting 2 hours late, MRV CTEC classes will be cancelled for that day. Any school
district that cancels or starts 2 hours late will not send students to MRV CTEC classes. District
administrators, MRV CTEC instructors, and MRV CTEC students will need to remember to monitor school
closing announcements for their own school district plus the YME school district.

Grade Reporting Procedure for Minnesota West Courses

1.       Minnesota West instructors have 4 business days to submit grades after the term ends. Term end dates can be located on the academic calendar on the Minnesota West website: https://www.mnwest.edu/current-students

a.       If students have not completed all coursework, but have extenuating circumstances, instructors may issue a grade of “Incomplete.” Students need to complete coursework within the timeframe agreed upon with the instructor.

2.       On the 5th business day after the end of the term, Minnesota West K-12 Collaboration Coordinator, Theresa Ireland, will begin sending grades to schools. CTE grades are sent along with any other Minnesota West PSEO grades for each semester.

3.       Most counselors will receive two emails – one automatically generated email from MoveItSecurely (Minnesota State’s secure file-sharing system), and one from Theresa outlining access to MoveItSecurely. Counselors with a StarID may only receive the first email.

4.       Packages sent through MoveItSecurely will automatically expire 14 days after send. Theresa is able to see who has viewed their grades, and follow up with those who have not.

5.       Counselors may connect with Theresa with any questions or concerns regarding their grades.
