WHO IS MINNESOTA RIVER VALLEY
CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION COLLABORATIVE?

The Minnesota River Valley Career and Technical Education Collaborative (MRVCTEC) is a group of four school districts—Lakeview, MACCRAY, Renville County West and Yellow Medicine East.

These schools work cooperatively with their partners—Minnesota West Community and Technical College, the SWWC Service Co-op, the Minnesota River Valley Educational District, the Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council, and the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

This collaborative provides opportunities for students to gain skills, knowledge, and experience in technical careers.  Career and technical education provides students of all ages with the academic and technical skills, knowledge, and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners.

Help us build a better future for our students.

  • A group of schools began discussions in the fall of 2015 to find ways to cooperate in continuing to offer CTE courses, even though the pool of needed CTE teachers was very thin.  The five schools currently in the collaborative launched the first class (Introduction to Medical/Health Careers) in the spring of 2017.
  • As the program grew and administering it became more complex, the schools engaged in the process of formalizing the collaborative and hiring a part-time director to coordinate delivering the programs.
  • The MRV CTEC officially launched as a formal collaborative in July 2018.
