Southwest West Central Service Cooperative is a regional education service agency that serves public and private schools in an 18-county region of southwest and west central Minnesota. The SWWC provides a wide range of administrative and educational services to 50+ public and private schools and about 50,000 students. They are the fiscal host for two secondary regional Carl Perkins Consortia that serve the needs of CTE teachers and students. Staff from SWWC provided technical assistance and leadership for the formation of the Minnesota River CTE Collaborative and are the fiscal host and manager of the LYFT Career Pathways project.
Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council is a private, nonprofit organization that offers customized training and employment services for individuals and businesses in a 14-county area of Southwest Minnesota through three regional WorkForce Center location. They provide youth career navigator services to the collaborative by supporting employers and schools through work-based learning and career education programs (i.e. job shadowing, internships, guest speakers, industry tours, career fairs). They prepare and support students with career exploration and preparation and workplace skills training that aligns the needs of local employees.
Minnesota West is a two-year college with five campuses and two centers in southwestern Minnesota that serves the region through more than 60 academic and technical programs. They are nationally recognized for the delivery in online content and were considered the #1 online college in Minnesota in 2018. Minnesota West provides in-kind office and meeting space for MRV CTEC, access to equipment and labs, as well as the contracted instructors for the high school courses. Technical program industry advisory boards are shared between the college and MRV CTEC.
Minnesota River Valley Education District (MRVED) is a consortium of nine school districts and one Area Learning Center in southwest rural Minnesota. They serve the needs of their districts through curriculum review, professional development, advisory committees, grant writing, and project management. MRVED is the fiscal host for the MRV CTEC and convene participating school superintendents to make programmatic and financial decisions. MRVED employs the Director of the MRV CTEC and provides access to communication services and support staff.
Launch Your Future Today (LYFT) is a rural career and technical education (CTE) pathway initiative with the purpose of rebuilding CTE in southwest and west central Minnesota. The goal of LYFT Career Pathways is for every secondary student in the region to gain marketable skills through meaningful CTE courses and opportunities, which lead to further education and careers that match our region’s labor market needs. Funding for LYFT Career Pathways comes from a 2017 Minnesota Legislative Grant and will run through June 2022.
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is the state’s principal economic development agency. DEED programs promote business recruitment, expansion, and retention; international trade; workforce development; and community development.
MRV CTEC offers employer partnerships, which are very influential in providing solid work-based learning experiences for our students. Students are held to the same expectations that all employees are held to and are evaluated by their workplace supervisor. This gives students a valuable lesson in improving their employable, industry-specific, professional, and personal skills. MRV CTEC is fortunate to partner with the following employers.
